David's paintings often change direction. Like a boulder rolling downhill, a stone in the path alters the course. David says that a favorite corner of a painting is often the undoing. In the effort to keep a portion of the painting that he really likes, that portion is left behind as the rest of the painting moves and grows. Such is the history of "Grasses".
